Selecting the right planner is important. You’ll carry this item with you to classes or meetings for the entire year. You’ll write your life down in this document. Not only does it need to be functional but it also needs to be an expression of you visually.
Starting in third grade I was given an “agenda” (aka a planner) for the entire school year. My class was required to write down our homework assignments every day. I remember our teacher checking to see if we had filled everything out at the end of the week. If we had, sometimes she would star our page – I of course always had mine filled out.
In middle school I figured out how much I enjoyed crossing off my action items listed in my planner. There is something so satisfying about finishing a task and crossing it out. I still do this today.
I kept track of my days with planners throughout college. These planners are so personal to me that I believe I have almost everyone I’ve ever used stored somewhere.
Last year was my first year out of college and in a full-time job. This was also the first year I tried to keep track of everything digitally. However, I decided that it is time to begin carrying a planner around again.
I was specifically looking for a planner that was first cute, functional, and in my price range. I set my cutoff price at $30 because I know I can easily get one that I like at Target for around $15 but I wanted try a new brand.
I ended up finding this Bloom Daily Planner on Amazon. I selected it mainly because I LOVE the front cover. I have been using it for a couple weeks now so I wanted to share my thoughts.
This planner is meant to be inspirational. There are quotes everywhere and spaces dedicated to goal tracking. I think some of these features are cool, but others are a little much for me. For example, I don’t need an inspirational quote to get through my week. Some people enjoy those things but I really don’t.
Before each month you can fill out a monthly vision. I like this page but I don’t see myself filling it out every month. And if I did fill it out I would probably only do two cubes.
The daily planning pages are the ones that will get the most use from me. I list my top three priorities at the top of each page and cross them off as they are achieved. However, the biggest issue I have with this planner is that that the columns are too narrow for me to write my daily tasks. It bothers me but I can deal with it for the year.
One thing I do like about the daily planning pages is that you can track the amount of water you drank that day. I struggle to drink enough water so this is a good reminder for me.
Pros
Overall here are the good things about this planner:
- It is beautifully design
- You can track your water consumption
- There is space for notes
- The goal tracking is a nice way to stay focused
Cons
Overall here are the things I wish I could change:
- Widen the daily columns
- Less inspirational quotes
I can only find this specific planner currently on Amazon, however you can see the company’s other product offerings here.
