I Might Be Getting Old

So I went to the mall the other day and all I can say is I saw a lot of skin. A lot of young girls were rocking the crop top and short shorts. I saw some cheeks I didn’t need to see. Which made me think am I getting old or are these girls baring too much skin? I decided a little of both.

In high school my shorts were pretty short, but the shorts I saw at the mall were shorter than anything I’ve ever worn. I don’t want to sound like I’m being judgmental toward other women because that’s not what I’m about, but I definitely do think there is a fine line between cute and cringey.

Identifying Appropriate Length

My mission when shopping is often to find pieces that I can be worn to work. I am fortunate to work in an environment that has a “smart casual” dress code. Basically this means that jeans and a blouse are okay, but a hooded sweatshirt isn’t.

I use the credit card rule to determine if a skirt is appropriate for work. If the space between the top of your knee and the end of the skirt is longer than the width of a credit card, it is too short. Also, generally if you have to question if it’s inappropriate it probably is.

Midi skirts are great because there is no questioning where the length is appropriate! And the high waist makes them even more flattering!

Leopard Midi Skirt

Everyone is wearing leopard and I searched quite a bit for the perfect leopard midi skirt at a good price. This skirt is the first thing I’ve ever purchased from Shein. I’ve been nervous to order from Shein but I tried it and I’m so happy with the quality! It is only $17.00 and worth every penny in my opinion.

Pair Midi Skirts With a Graphic Tee

My favorite way to wear a midi skirt is with a white graphic tee. Graphic tees are a fun way to make a statement or say something silly. I chose to pair this midi skirt with a shirt that says “Brunette.” I bought this shirt from Etsy and it arrived in packaging that was covered with pizza slices – so cute! Although I do like this shirt, it did fit a little long so I would only wear it tucked in. Also, the sleeves were an odd length so I rolled them to look more feminine.
