Ready to learn how to make your own pearl hoop earrings for less than $3.00? Great, you came to the right place! I’m loving the look of pearl hoops lately. I recently almost bought a pair, but then I realized that I could save some money by making them myself. In this blog post, I’ll show you how to make simple, pearl hoop earrings.
I frequently come across something in a store and decide I won’t buy it because I know I can make it myself, for less. This is something I’ve learned from my crafty mother.
Recently I came across the trend of pearl hoop earrings. I wear pearls almost everyday so I knew this was an accessory I needed to have. However, they seemed way too simple for me not to just make on my own.
Before I go on with how I made these, below are some of the earrings I found that inspired this DIY. Also, if you like the look and don’t want to make them yourself, you can shop these products.
Materials Needed
This simply DIY does not require many materials. To create these pearl hoop earrings you will need the following:
- 35mm hoop earrings (silver or gold)
- Plastic pearl beads
- E6000 glue (optional)
The silver earrings come in a four pack for $3.99 and the gold earrings have three sets for the same price. The larger hoops (50mm) come in a pack of one and are $2.99. I selected these plastic beads because they were the only ones that I could find with a hole big enough to bead through the hoop earrings. Because they are plastic, they are also lighter so the earrings won’t be too heavy. The E600 glue is only needed if you opt to create the fully beaded hoop earrings.
Pearl Hoop Earring Instructions
To create a fully beaded earring you will first need to bead the entire earring. If you are making 50mm hoops, the beads fit on perfectly but the 35mm hoops do not. For the 35mm hoops, only put on nine beads. They will be a little loose but if you put on 10 I think it will be hard to fit on your ear.
If you try to put this on to see how it looks at this point, you will find it is a little difficult to get all the pearls to stay put. This is where the glue comes in. To make sure the pearls don’t slip off (and roll everywhere) apply a little bit of glue to the top of the earring. Don’t apply it where your ear will go. Then slip on the last bead, hold it in place and take a Q-tip to clean up any glue that may have oozed out.
Since the 50mm hoops are nearly a perfect fit the pearls won’t move around very much. The 35mm hoops do have a little wiggle room. Consider gluing the last bead as well to make sure they all stay in place.
Let the glue dry and you are done! It’s really that easy!
No Glue Required Pearl Hoops
While I was making these I noticed that I thought the hoops looked pretty with just a few pearls as well. So, I made earrings with just three pearls and a set with just one pearl. There’s no need to glue these in place so these earrings are even easier to make!
These DIY pearl hoop earrings are so simple that it almost seems silly to type it out, but the glue took a little thought on my end. I hope you’ve enjoyed this tutorial!
Cost Breakdown
If you create the silver 35 mm hoops and don’t need to purchase the glue, one set of earrings will cost you $2.25. You can’t beat that! Gift these to your friends or save the other sets to give away as gifts. These can be a great, inexpensive DIY Christmas or birthday gift.
