How to Wear Butterfly Accessories as An Adult

Butterflies are back in a big way, however some of the ways to wear this trend seem a little too childish for me. As a 25 year old woman, I just feel like some of the cute little butterfly crop tops and plastic accessories are best fit for teenagers. In this post I’m showing how I’m wearing butterfly accessories to be on a trend, but in a way that will work for a variety of ages.

Maybe it’s just me, but I think that the butterfly trend can easily look a little childish. Some of the outfits I see are so cute, but they just aren’t quite my style.

However, I’m loving the butterfly trend because, to me, it’s nostalgic. It brings me back the 90’s and early 2000’s.

In this post you’ll see how I’m embracing butterfly accessories in a more mature way. And anyone can wear these accessories!

Butterfly Hair Clips

Plastic butterfly hair clips are back! However, I’m swapping plastic for metal clips instead. The gold seems more mature and formal. For example, I think I could easily wear one of these clips on a casual day at work, but I probably wouldn’t ever wear the plastic hair clips.

Here I’m just using one and pinning it back. I love this simple look!

The clips I purchased are from Amazon. They come in a pack of four. When I opened them, there we completely flat, so I folded the wings up to give them some dimension.

Don’t hold yourself back by just using one hair clip though! Another way to style them is to pull your hair back and then layer in multiple clips. Try this out for a fun, whimsical look.

Delicate Butterfly Necklaces

For jewelry, I’m opting for delicate butterfly necklaces. This necklace is my absolute favorite right now. I ordered it online and when I opened it, I was disappointed at how short it was. But when when I tried it on, I absolutely loved it!

I’ve worn this necklace almost every day the last couple of weeks. Unfortunately this necklace, which I ordered from Francesca’s, is sold out. However this necklace is very similar and it also comes in silver.

Butterfly accessories: locket from a flea market

I also really like this butterfly locket. This one, I can’t link since I found it a flea market. It was only $2, can you believe that?!
