I’ve got a new DIY gift idea for you this week, personalized makeup bags! This is an easy gift idea that should only take around five minutes. Fill the bags up with some goodies and they can make great Christmas gifts. They could also be given to bridesmaids or teammates! In this post you’ll find inspiration and step by step instructions on how to create these personalized makeup bags for friends, family and yourself.

I’ve challenged myself this year to come up with thoughtful gifts that will also be inexpensive. I realize that Christmas might look a little different this year than before for a lot of families, but that doesn’t mean you can’t give gifts that will be loved.
These personalized makeup bags are so simple to make! They will take less than five minutes.

These are a great idea if you want to give multiple people the same thing! They could be gifts for sisters, bridesmaids, friends – really anyone.
I only spent around $20 on the materials. If you have five people to give these to, then each bag will only have cost you $4.
How To Make Personalized Makeup Bags
These personalized makeup bags are one of my easiest DIY projects I’ve shared yet! In two easy steps they will be complete. Below are details on how to make these simple gifts.
Supplies Needed
You’ll only need to get two new materials for this DIY project. Here all the supplies you’ll need:
The canvas bags I purchased are 8×5 inches. You’ll likely not be able to fit more than 5 to 6 letters across the pouch. If you need a larger bag, here is a set with varying sizes.
The canvas bags are going to be the least expensive, but below are some other makeup bag options. You will just want to make sure the bag is cloth since you will be ironing it.
The iron-on letter patches come with two sets of all the letters in the alphabet. Keep this in mind if you have multiple people to make these makeup bags for. They also come in a couple colors other than pink.
Letters aren’t the only think you can iron on! Below are some other patches that may work as well. You can get crazy with it and iron on a whole bunch!
Step One: Arrange Letters
Figure out what you want to put on the makeup bag and arrange the letters to make sure they will all fit.
Here are some ideas on what you can write on the bags:
- Initials, such as “EJB”
- Full names
- Nicknames
- Name of colleges or sports teams
Step Two: Iron
Once the letters are arranged, you can go ahead and begin to iron the letters on. Follow the instructions provided with your patches.
Mine instructed me to cover the letters with a cotton cloth and then iron for 30 seconds. I repeated that on the inside as well.
Once you’ve ironed, your bag is complete!
What To Fill The Makeup Bags With
You’ll likely want to fill up your personalized makeup bag with some goodies! Some ideas include: sheet masks, hair clips, nail polish, mini lotions, lipstick, chapstick and so much more!
