Remember in elementary school when you would pass out Valentine cards to all your classmates? I always looked forward to this because it allowed me to show off my creative abilities when it came to designing my Valentine’s Day box. It was always a hit because I would cut paper into fringe and put it on the hole where my classmates placed my Valentine cards. I did that every year – it was my signature!
I would also spend hours deciding who would get which Valentine card. I had Disney princess cards one year and I remember thinking that the people I liked would get the Ariel, Jasmine and Cinderella ones. But the people I didn’t like as much received Sleeping Beauty and Snow White cards. Oh life used to be so simple.
Elementary school is when I cared most about Valentine’s Day, nowadays my boyfriend and I don’t really celebrate. I like the holiday – the colors and hearts everywhere are adorable – but I don’t feel like we need to shower each other with lavish gifts for the day.
Usually what we do is get small gifts and then make a nice dinner at home. However, if you do have plans for the special day I do have some items to share.
Little Red Dress
This red dress stands out in my closet of black and gray. Red is not a color I usually gravitate towards but what color is more appropriate on Valentine’s Day? Something about this statement color makes me feel great! I might try working it into my everyday wardrobe.
I found this dress at Express and it’s on sale! I am wearing an extra small. Usually I would prefer a small but the bust was too large for me. I will admit it is a little shorter than what I usually wear.
The Shoes
It is rare for me to find anything I like and fits at the shoe clearance rack at Target. I wear an 8 or 8.5 which seems to be the most common size of shoe. However, I got these heels for an absolute steal. Shoes this flashy are not my style, however the price was right. They were on clearance for around $8 and Cartwheel had an additional 15% off promotion.
I am absolutely embracing my inner Foxxy Cleopatra with these heels.
