Fall 2019 Trend: The Plaid Blazer

Fall is just around the corner! One trend that I’m loving is the plaid blazer. It’s a versatile piece that can easily be incorporated into your work wardrobe or be worn in a casual setting. In this post you will find ideas on how to style this fall essential and affordable options under $50.

What’s Not to Love About the Plaid Blazer?

Seriously! This is the perfect item to add to your fall wardrobe. Blazers can keep you warm while the temperatures are dropping and plaid is everywhere this fall. It’s also a versatile piece. It can easily be dressed up for work or dressed down for a casual outing.

How to Style the Plaid Blazer

The first way I styled this blazer is with a black blouse and black jeans because, let’s be honest, color in my wardrobe is not something I’m naturally drawn to. Swap the denim for dress pants for a more business professional look.

The blazer is a masculine piece which can be boxy. To add some shape, wrap a belt around the outside. This gives it a more feminine flair by showing off your waist!

There are a variety of other ways you can style this plaid blazer. To dress it down, pair it with jeans and a plain t-shirt. Make it a little more fun by adding a band tee or graphic tee. Add a pop of color by throwing in a bright shoes! If it’s warm enough, trade in the denim for a pair of paper bag shorts, bonus points if they are colorful!

The options are endless, really! You can pair it with a dress or with skirt as well. Maybe wear a turtleneck or sweater underneath when it’s colder. Do you have other ideas on how to style this blazer? Let me know in the comments below!

Affordable Plaid Blazers

Blazers are one of those articles of clothing that can be expensive. I wanted to pay $50 or less for this blazer, so my hunt began! And it ended at Old Navy! This blazer is $49.99 and comes in two different colors – and it’s currently marked down to $40 (as of August 22)! I chose the gray plaid option as I thought it would be more versatile. This blazer’s material is stretchier than I would have expected by just looking at it online, but I’m okay with it. I think the fabric makes it easier to dress down.
