Finding affordable business casual clothes can be a challenge. I generally shop at the same places to find good deals on these pieces for work. In this blog post, I’m sharing my top five places to find business casual looks for less!
Something about purchasing professional attire is just not as exciting for me. Whenever I need to buy “work clothes” I am on a mission to buy them at a discount. I think this is because I feel like these pieces don’t express my style as clearly as pieces that I would wear casually. They also tend to not get as much wear as my casual clothes.
All the pieces I’m wearing here are from one of my top five places to shop. My top is from Marshall’s, so unfortunately I cannot link it. This is a similar one from T.J. Maxx for only $12 (which is how much the shirt I’m wearing was). The purse is one I only carry to work, I also got it at either T.J. Maxx or Marshalls a few years ago, this is a similar style for a similar price.
These shoes I have been wearing all summer and they are so comfortable for having a small heel! They are still available at Target and only $24.99. Not all work environments allow open-toed shoes so I’m very glad that it’s okay at my office.
Finally, this skirt is my favorite part of this outfit. It is perfect! It’s stretchy so it’s comfortable and hugs you so it doesn’t hang loosely. I love the wrap around the waist because it adds a little something. This skirt is from LOFT and is currently marked down to $49.99 (and there is an additional 40% off as I write this post).
When it’s time to buy business casual pieces, these are the top five places I look.
1. LOFT
LOFT is first on my list for a reason! I love the quality of their clothes and the selection. They are almost always having great sales. I love it when you can take off an additional 40 percent on full-price items.
However, if you’re looking for the really good deals, the clearance rack is where you need to go. There are often additional percentages off of the sale prices. I recently shopped a sale that had an additional 60 percent off sale prices. I bought multiple blouses for around $12!
2. Target
You can find everything at Target! I can always count on Target to always have cute, business casual pieces. Generally you can find a nice blouse for around $20. Again, if you are looking for an even better deal than that, check out the clearance rack.
I overheard a boy working at Target the other day while stocking the clearance rack say, “If it was cute it would be sold.” This is while I was looking at the clearance rack! So first of all, that was rude of him but also he was wrong! I have found plenty of cute things that were on clearance.
A couple years ago I bought a black floral dress on the Target clearance rack for around $8. It is the perfect business casual dress. I have worn it multiple times and always receive tons of compliments on it! So take that, rude Target boy.
3. Old Navy
I enjoy finding inexpensive pieces at Old Navy but I am cautious of what I buy there. First, I pay attention to the fabric, if it is wrinkled on display it’s going to be wrinkled when you wear it. I am also cautious of their pixie pants. I was a big fan, but once I ran a pair through the wash and the back pocket blew out. However, I have purchased them again and had no issues.
Other than that, Old Navy is so great! They are always having great deals and usually everything is good quality for the price. I recently bought some gingham dress pants there for under $10!
4. Kohl’s
Kohl’s is always having great sales. Its regular priced items are affordable as well as their clearance. If you take the time to browse through their clearance racks you can find some hidden treasures. Also you can usually take an additional percentage off your entire purchase. I don’t have a Kohl’s card so I use the app RetailMeNot and can usually find a 20 percent off code.
5. Marshalls/T.J. Maxx
I love going to both Marshalls and T.J. Maxx. Their clothing racks can be a little overwhelming, but generally if there are new, trendy business casual items they are out on display.
Final Business Casual Buying Tip
These are my top five favorite places to find business casual clothing. The other places I like to look are Nordstrom Rack and Express. My final tip to find affordable business casual clothes is to shop in-store. You can find a ton of great deals online, but in my experience the deeper discounts are in-store.
