I have some news… we are expecting puppies! Eight Labrador Retriever puppies are due this October. Checkout these cute announcement photos in this post and I’m also sharing some facts I didn’t know about dog pregnancies.
Mom and dad, Gemma and Gunner, are excited to announce that they are expecting puppies! These little pumpkins are due after October 10. An ultrasound showed that there should be eight puppies, but there could be more. We are expecting the puppies to be a combination of chocolate and black labs but there is a possibility for there to be yellow labs as well!
Luke and I will be keeping one. We haven’t decided if we want a male or female. However, I have always pictured us with a chocolate lab. I know once we meet the little girl or boy we will know which one is right for us.
Dog Pregnancy Facts
Through this process I have learned a lot about dog pregnancies that I didn’t know. I guess I’ve never put a lot of thought into how puppies are born until now. I’ve compiled a list of dog pregnancy facts below:
- A dog’s gestation period is 58 – 68 days
- You can tell if a dog is about to go into labor if her temperature starts to drop
- Labor can last between two and 20 hours
- Puppies in one litter can have multiple fathers
I hope you’ve enjoyed our puppy pregnancy announcement photos. If you were wondering, no it was not easy to get the dogs to sit still for these photos!
