It was a great year! Although I faced my fair share of challenges, 2019 has been good to me. My personal life was full of blessings and I also started this blog which has taught me so much. In this post I’m recapping my 2019 and also giving some New Year’s resolution ideas for you.
My 2019 Recap
I would like to share my 2019 recap because I realized that I share more of my personal life on Instagram but I don’t share a lot here on the blog. Below are my top highlights from 2019.
I started this blog
After years of wanting to start a blog I finally did it. While I published my website at the beginning of the year, I started blogging consistently in May. I also worked up the courage to actually tell people I know in my personal life that I was blogging – which was one of my biggest challenges. So far I have learned so much from this hobby.
New job
In July I left my first corporate job out of college where I had been for two years. I frankly was no longer happy in that role and I am so blessed to have found another one. I love working in marketing and I am so happy in my new role. Every morning when I walk in the building I try to remind myself how blessed I am to be there.
Travel
I am so blessed to have been able to travel this year. We brought in the New Year in beautiful St. Maarten which was my first time ever traveling outside of the U.S. We were also able to visit family in the Boston and Cape Cod area and Aruba was our last travel destination this year. Be sure to checkout my Salem, Massachusetts travel guide here.
New Puppy
I announced that puppies were on the way in a blog post, but I never announced when the puppies arrived! Eight black labs were born on October 13 and we welcomed one into our family. Remington was the smallest of the litter and we knew he would be ours right away. Life with a puppy has been so much fun and I can’t get over how cute and sweet he is.
I got engaged!
I saved the best for last! On December 7 my best friend asked me to marry him and I said yes! Luke and I have been together for three and a half years and I can’t wait to marry him. Wedding planning will take up a lot of my 2020.
New Year’s Resolutions
So I’ll be honest, I’m not a huge believer of big New Year’s resolutions. But I do like the idea of being able to start fresh with small, attainable goals. For example, I know that going to the gym is not realistic for me. I don’t have the time or desire to make time for that to really happen, but I can set a goal to go for more walks during lunchtime at work.
My goals for 2020 are mostly the same as 2019. I want to keep blogging consistently and continuously improve my professional career. It will be a challenge balancing work, blogging and wedding planning but I’m up for it!
Here are a few New Year’s resolutions to spark inspiration.
- Learn a new skill
- Get a new hobby
- Park farther away from the entrance to get more exercise
- Go to church more
- Switch to natural beauty products
- Eat more vegetables
- Volunteer more
- Start a journal
- Make your bed everyday
- Be more supportive of other women
- Be less wasteful and recycle more
- Focus on paying off debt
- Declutter
I’m looking forward to 2020 and I hope it is filled with as many blessings as 2019.
